Strategies and Tactics
Basing our concepts on the ADDIE model of instructional design, we believe that conventional methods of product training are not conducive to retention of information.
The goal of any organization is for its people to competently and confidently present product value to customers. The problem is that many employees may not receive adequate training to effectively present those product features and benefits. Adequate training does not necessarily mean adequate content: many training programs offer abundant training material. The way that people are trained--that is the strategic approach to behavior modification--is as important as what the people are trained on. Thus, a paradigm shift in training strategy may be indicated by introducing innovative learning techniques into the training environment.
Consultants for Learning recommends a Five Phases approach to product training with a shift to small group, problem-based learning that will increase interest and learning retention. No more "Death by PowerPoint"!
